Hi,

Nachdem ich jetzt endlich einen 13W3 Adapter habe moechte ich nachtraeglich X11 auf meine SparcStation5 installieren. Ich hab alle x*.tgz entpackt.
Leider habe ich ueberhaupt keine Ahnung wie die eingebauten Komponenten heissen (Grafikkarte etc.).
In der sysctl.conf habe ich nicht "machdep.allowaperture=2 " eingetragen da es laut "man xf86" nicht fuer meine Architektur gebraucht wird.
Leider bekomme ich kein X11 zum laufen (siehe unten XF86 log).
Auch die Meldung:
(EE) No OS PCI support available
irritiert mich. Gibts ueberhaupt eine Sparc mit PCI Slots?

Also Maus verwende ich eine optische vom Typ5. Hab aber auch eine mit Kugel.

In der Tat hat die SS5 kein PCI-Bus.
Mit show sbus kann man aber sehr schnell ermitteln,
welche Hardware in einem der drei SBus-Slots verbaut ist.
Zusätzlich besteht bei der SS5 die Chance, das dort ein Frame Buffer
in dem dafür vorgesehenen AFX-Slot steckt.
Öffne doch einefach mal den Deckel der SS5 und schau nach was
drinne steckt.
Identifizieren kannst du das gefundene dann durch vergleiche aus dem
SS5 Handbuch usw.

Ps.: ...und SUNs mit PCI-Bus gibt es auch, z.Bsp. die Ultra 5 / 10 usw.

Tja meine Sparc meint dazu, dass "sbus" unknown option. auch "bus" kennt er nicht.
Ist diese Information relevant fuer X11? Was verwendet man da als Treiber?

Hallo,

tja das Kommando lautet auch show-sbus (also mit Bindestrich).
Folgende Komandos könnte man auch proberen:

module-info    (zeigt Info über die CPU und den Bus-Takt)
show-devs

Sehr nützlich ist das Kommando sifting. Damit kann man das Vokabular durchsuchen. siftting show zeigt alle Worte (dies ist FORTH) in denen show vorkommt an. Vorsicht: Nicht jedes gefundene Wort kann auch direkt ausgeführt werden, einige Worte gehen nur im Zusammenhang mit anderen.

Show wurde willkürlich gewählt, sifting test zeigt eben alle Worte mit test an.

Das hat mir geholfen. Die cgsix kann nur 8-Bit und ich hatte 16-Bit eingestellt.
Jetzt fehlt nur mehr die Maus und ich bin gluecklich! :)
