So... ;) Ich hoffe der Eizo 21,3" TFT kommt die Woche noch an! ;) Dann hab ich zwei identische Monitore und die Ultra 20 hat ja zwei DVI Ausgänge. ;) Ich bin gespannt wie Dual Head ist. :D

Mist, Monitor ist heute angekommen, muss ich aber bei Post abholen. Kann ich aber nicht da ich ja heute wieder nach Hannover zu meiner Süßen fahren, d.h. Dual Head gibts erst Montag Abend. Ich werd wahnsinnig !!!!

So Dual Head ist am Laufen... noch unter Windows XP... hab grad keine gute Solaris Installation auf der U20... Puhhh... ich bin da ganz schön überfordert! Und der 2. Monitor ist wohl nicht mehr der fitteste, das Weiß lässt zu wünschen übrig. Aber ist schon mächtig viel Arbeitsplatz... Ich weiss nur nicht mehr wo ich zuerst hinschauen soll. :D

Ach ja, werde wohl morgen gleich mal wieder IMN beglücken und schau ob se mit ner weiteren XVR-500 zum guten Kurs dienen können. ;) Ich glaub meine Blade findet 2x 21" TFT auch gut. :D

Was ist da eigentlich für eine GraKa in der U20?

Weil ich immer so ziemliche Probleme mit Dual Head unter Unix auf Intel hatte. Erst vor drei Wochen hat es zum ersten mal mit Mandriva-Linux geklappt (sogar Triple Head - 3xMatrox) leider auf altem Eisen mit dem ich nicht mehr arbeiten will (Tyan Tiger MB mit Athlon MP1900).

In der U20 steckt eine NVidia Quadro FX560 mit zwei DVI Ausgängen.
Wie ich schon schrieb, unter Windows war es ein Kinderspiel, musste lediglich UltraMon installieren damit ich bequemer Dual Head betreiben kann.
Heute werde ich ein aktuelles Solaris auf der U20 installieren und mich dort an Xinerama versuchen. ;D

Noch ne Frage, wie lautstark ist die Graka? Eigentlich bin ich ja optimalerweise auf der Suche nach einer passiv kühlbaren Karte.

Puhhh... schwierige Frage... bei mir ist es grundsätzlich etwas lauter und die U20 zählt definitiv nicht zu den leisen Maschinen. Aber die Grafikkarte macht zumindestens keine nervigen Geräusche, ich nehme sie demnach in der bestehenden Geräuschkulisse nicht wahr.

Ach ja, Xinerama unter Solaris Express CE Build 55 läuft ohne Probleme. :) Ich werd dann mal wieder nen Foto machen sobald der Desktop schön ist. :) Wenn Interesse besteht, die xorg.conf kann ich gerne hier bereitstellen. Grundsätzlich ist die Inbetriebnahme des Xorg Servers, als auch des NVidia Treibers überhaupt kein Problem. Ebenso Xinerama... da muss man nur auf wenige Feinheiten achten!

Ich könnt schreien :) So geil find ich Solaris auf meinen zwei Monitoren. :D Ach ja, hab ich schon erzählt, das ich die zweite XVR-500 heute bestellt hab? Wobei ich auf der Blade ernsthafte Sorgen habe ob das soooo einfach wie mit Xorg unter Solaris x86 geht. Mal schauen....

Mein Murrina Theme is zu sehen, also auch die MS Webcore True Type Fonts, ein moderner Desktop halt. :D

Tschokko, bist du dir sicher, dass du einen Opteron in der Kiste verbaut bekommen hast? Vielleicht ist das ja wirklich ein i386-System mit "64-Bit Erweiterungen", natürlich extrem gekühlt und hochgetaktet. ;D

Ansonsten sieht das ganz nett aus mit den zwei fetten TFTs.

Na klar, ich hab meinen 1,4 GHz Tualatin ausgegraben, ne Wakü montiert, den Takt hochgedreht und bißchen den Befehlssatz erweitert damit die CPU 64-bit versteht. ;)

Wichtig sind nur die zwei Device Sections, dort insbesonders der BusID Eintrag, dann die zwei Monitor Sections und die zwei Screen Sections. Zusammengeführt wird alles im ServerLayout und damit Xorg die Xinerama Erweiterung nutzt muss man Option "Xinerama" "true" zu den ServerFlags hinzufügen. :)
Steck ich jetzt noch ne zweite FX 560 in den Kasten kann ich noch zwei weitere Monitore anschließen. Also das ist doch mal ausbaufähig. :)

So,

hab mal über die Mittagspause die zweite XVR-500 in die Blade gesteckt. Die Konfiguration des X-Servers war ja nen echtes Kinderspiel !!! Ich muss lediglich die "server_args" des x11-server Dienstes anpassen.

Das einzige Problem, irgendwas stimmt mit dem Signal nicht. Der Output des zweiten Framebuffer ist irgendwie komisch als würde ne Farbe teilweise fehlen. Sieht jedenfalls komisch aus und ist auf beiden Monitoren der Fall. Im Schlimmsten Fall ist der neue Framebuffer im Arsch. :( Muss mal heute Abend rumprobieren und mal umstecken, sprich die neue XVR-500 mal alleine fahren, usw.

Ach ja, so richtig Xinerama ist natürlich der Xsun X-Server natürlich nicht. Ich kann zwar mit der Maus mich zwischen beiden Monitorflächen hin und her bewegen, aber Applikationen können jeweils nur auf einem Schirm dargestellt werden. Ebenso erscheint auf dem zweiten Schirm ein weiteres CDE Menüteil unten im Fenster auf.
Na ja, muss mal schauen ob ich den X-Server so umstellen kann, damits genauso wie mit meinem Xinerama Desktop ist.

Der Framebuffer ist zum Glück nicht defekt. ;) Er funktioniert tadellos.... Allerdings gibt es einen Darstellungsfehler seitens Xsun. Und auch dieser Xinerama Mode funktioniert nicht so wie eigentlich im Handbuch beschrieben. Womöglich liegt es an meiner Solaris Version. Ich denke mir fehle da diverse Patches. Ich werd jetzt mal nen Versuch mit dem aktuellsten Community Express Build starten, wenns da nicht klappt, dann mal Solairs 10 11/06 installieren und ordentlich Updates/Patches einspielen. Irgendwie muss es ja gehen...

Unter Strich hat es aber schon was Erhabenes wenn da zwei so Framebuffer in der Blade stecken. :D :D :D
